Daerah Competition

Wednesday, 19th of April 2006
District Level Choir Competition....
After putting on make up with the help from our seniors(Thank you, guys), we went to Dato' Hamzah by bus....
Reached there around 5-10 minutes past 8.00am.... we thought we were late but the competition has not started.....
We got to know from Pn. Indra that our school is going to be the fourth to perform....
After 5 minutes practice with sir, all of us went into the hall and listened to the other schools....
Some schools are quite good to be honest.... not bad all... ^_^
Then, it's our turn.... nervous.... Some of us went too sharp and others went too flat... and the piano was so loud(electric piano).... no one even bothered to tune it for us....
sigh.... no excuses however...
Anyways, girls, your expression and motion are just so dead....really.... where's the spirit??
MGS was the last to perform... they did well.... I, personally liked the motion they've done in the song "Ain't no Mountain high enough"....

To cut the long story short(sorry, I don't have the time), MGS won, we got second and Bukit Kemuning got third....
Funny... When they announced that Bukit Kemuning got third....they screamed like mad...
but when they announced Convent got second... MGS screamed like mad for us.....haha...
Obviously we kept quiet, we were disappointed....
But lucky us, we get to go for state levels.... and the team's spirit is higher now....

Okay....Tomorrow's the big day....Heard that there's going to be 9 schools competing this year.... *shock*... not sure though.....
There are quite a few things I want to share with you just in case any of you read this before the competition...
Now, we've gone through quite a lot of things... our concert being cancelled, not able to have practices at school, parents' disapproval(some).... and tomorrow is the big day..
A certain person once told me that it is not the results that matters the most...
It's the process.... we had a great time together didn't we??
We laughed at jokes, sing together... enjoy each other's company....
If someone did not enjoy the time spend, then I'm afraid you need to open your eyes wider....
I'm quite disappointed when I tried to find the passion in some.... but in the meantime, I'm proud of those who smiled and enjoy the moment singing and treasuring the music...
It's not about winning or losing..... It's about being happy when we all sing together and loving the music.... I hope you guys can seek that happiness that I've found in this little "SMK Convent Choir team".....

Anyways, I've finished my lecture, so these are a few advices:
THE DAY BEFORE
1. Save your energy today.... DON'T TALK at all if you can manage it....hehe...torture you all
(who ask you all to be so talkative)
2. Don't over practice... or you'll hurt your throat....
3. Drink lots of water.....
4. Get enough of sleep.... (don't be too tense)

NEXT DAY
1. Rinse your mouth with salty water (NaCl+H2O) in the morning before you brush your teeth...
2. Talk a lot..... Talk as much as you can..... It'll warm up your voice.....
3. Don't be so nervous... chill...and take a deep breath
4. Try to recall the scores and the points you're suppose to take notice....

Ps. Girls, forgot to tell you guys, please bring your own lip brush(or whatever you call it)...
